5 Ideas For Male Dog Names That Will Make Your Boy Puppy Proud

Naming new pets is an exciting task. For most, it is a very personal event because these pets, more often than not, grow to become an important part of the family. For dogs, it is just as intense especially because dogs are not only intelligent, they also relate very well to human beings and so it is important to give them a name that they would be proud to have. Below we have compiled a list of five great male dog names that we believe any boy puppy would be more than proud to wear for his whole life.

However, before listing them, it is important to know that your dog may not always take the name you give them. It is not yet known why, but sometimes a dog may refuse a specific name. When this happens, you can instead let him choose a name for himself. You can do this several ways. Either write names on small cards with treats on top of each and whichever card he goes to first is the name you can give him.

You can also get a list of maybe five names that you like, and when your puppy is still new, call him by all of them with ten to fifteen-minute breaks. If he happens to answer to any, then that is the name he has chosen.

Another easy yet effective method is to simply give your new puppy a few days or a whole week to stay without a name. During this time, make sure to observe them. Take note of their usual behaviors, their general characters and even marks on his coat. By the end of the week, if you are observant enough, you are sure to come up with a name that suits him just fine.

Epic male dog names for your awesome boy puppy

Ace

Ace is a great male dog name for a puppy. One that he will surely enjoy having and will also be proud of having. Ace simply means win or succeed or beat the odds. Ace is a powerful name because it carries with it a lot of positive energy. Your boy puppy is guaranteed to grow into this name and may even turn out to be a literal winner. Perhaps in races, in getting tricks, in training, or simply at chewing shoes. No matter the task, a winner nonetheless.

The name Ace can also be given to fast, outgoing, full of energy pups that just seem to like being up and about. It is also a short and easy name to say so he should grow into it easily. It is also a timeless name and even fifty years from now, Ace will still be a great name to have.

Tiny

When you have a huge puppy, who may look scary on the outside but he is really just a small, gentle baby who enjoys being carried on the lap, belly rubs and being petted, then you could call him Tiny. It is an ironic name for him that opposes his physical appearance, but expresses his inner dog. The best thing about this name is that when he does grow into that gigantic dog, Tiny would not only be funny but also very sweet.

It will also be easier to relate to him and for him to make friends as opposed to giving him a terrifying name such as Crusher, which will make it hard to have him socialize with other dogs, dog owners and even your family and friends. The name Tiny acts like a pacifier or assurance that despite his physical appearance he is still a sweet dog worth knowing.

Loki

In Greek Mythology, Loki was the brother of Thor. They were both gods. However Loki has often been painted as the evil brother. The one who was disobedient and hard headed. What people do not see however, is how Loki was powerful and passionate at the same time.

Loki is a unique, easy to say name that depicts a strong, maybe cheeky puppy. If he likes peeing on your favorite rug, or chewing on shoes no matter how many times you tell him, or eating the food on your plate when you get up to change the channel or answer the door, then Loki could be a great name for him! The upside is that Loki was very devoted, loyal and passionate, so you won’t have to worry about getting a whole lot of love.

Bear

While very common, Bear is still a very sweet, cute and timeless name. It has been a dog name for a long time and still continues to have popularity in present times. You may have a puppy that is nothing short of a teddy bear. All puffy, cuddle and oh so cute. You may find yourself calling him bear without even knowing. Fret not, Bear is indeed a legit and awesome name that your boy pup will be more than happy to have.

Another case of having Bear as a male dog name, is when you have a puppy of a gigantic dog breed. Once he grows up into his typical body size, then bear will make much more sense. The only downside to this name is that it is fairly common and you may just end up with 7 excited dogs running towards you in the dog park when you do call it out.

Shadow

Our last boy puppy name is Shadow. When you think about a shadow what traits come into mind? Loyal, diligent, ever present and a good mimic right? You may notice that your puppy likes following you around no matter where you go, keeping close to your heels, and trying to do what you do. He may be fast in picking up training and tricks and he may just be the best companion of all time.

If this is your puppy, then Shadow is the name to give him. It is a classic male dog name, unique in a way, and carries with it some sort of mystery. It also just goes to show just how special he is to you!
