But birthdays are special and it is a perfect excuse to splurge on a new toy or spend some time with your furbaby at the park. This year; you can go an extra mile ahead and bake a delicious dog birthday cake that is delicious and healthy for your little darling. So let’s take a look at some easy dog birthday cake recipes for Fido.

Food good for dogs
- Carrots – Contains Vitamin A. Good for dogs’ eyes. Makes excellent carrot cake for dog’s birthday.
- Broccoli – Rich in Vitamins A, C, D and calcium and other minerals.
- Celery – Improves heart health and fights diseases. Celery is rich in calcium and other minerals as well as vitamins.
- Green beans – Contain many vitamins, minerals, proteins, folic acid, fiber and even Omega essential fatty acids.
- Spinach – Very good source of vitamins A, B6 and K and iron.
- Sweet potatoes – Always remove the skin of sweet potatoes.
- Pumpkins – Rich in fiber. Very good for preventing urine infections, kidney issues etc in dogs.
- Apples – Never feed the seeds of apples to dogs as they could contain cyanide. Apples are a good source of vitamin C.
- Brown rice – Rich in fiber, proteins and many vitamins and minerals.
- Oats – Oats are a good choice of ingredient for birthday cake for dog. They contain more fiber and protein than other grains and are also easy to digest. Oats are also good for dogs on weight management programs.
- Honey – In small quantities honey is safe for dogs. But you should never feed honey to young pups. Also honey contains sugar, so it could lead to tooth decay. Having said that; honey is a good natural substitute for sugar in your dog birthday cake recipes.
- Peanut butter – Proteins and omega 3 essential fats make peanut butter a good food for dog. Dog cakes with peanut butter are quite popular.
Dog birthday cake recipes
1. No bake dog cake
This is a very easy dog cake. It is not sweet but savory.
- 1 can moist chicken or meat
- 3 tbsp flour. If your dog is allergic to wheat gluten, use spelt or rye flour.
- 1 cup each crushed dog treats and whole dog treats for decoration
- Large egg – 1
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
Method
- In a shape bowl (or normal bowl), take out the canned food, add flour and mix them well. Press down the mix and remove it in a plate.
- Boil eggs and cool and slice them. Crumble the eggs.
- Decorate the cake by spreading mayonnaise on top of the cake. Add crumbled eggs and crushed dog treats. Place the whole dog treats around the dog cake.

2. Applesauce spice cake

Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups of flour (rye, spelt, ground oats, amaranth or buckwheat if your dog cannot tolerate wheat gluten)
- Pinch of all spice
- 1/3rd cup honey
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- All natural apple sauce sugar free – 2 cups
For the frosting
- 1/3rd cup vegetable oil
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Prepare a baking pan of 9x13x2 inches by buttering and flouring it.
- In a large bowl, mix all cake ingredients.
- Pour in prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out dry.
- Cool the cake completely.
- In the mean time, make the frosting by beating all frosting ingredients until creamy.
- Decorate the cooled cake by spreading frosting evenly on the cake.
3. Sour cream banana cake
- 3 ½ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ cup each honey
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup all natural applesauce
- 2 large eggs
- Bananas -2 mashed. Choose ripe ones.
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup walnuts
For frosting
- ¼ cup each sour cream and honey
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Prepare a baking pan 9x13x2 inches with melted butter and flour.
- In a bowl, mix all cake ingredients. Pour the batter in the pan.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until done.
- Cool the cake completely.
- Prepare the frosting ingredients by beating them with a hand mixer until frothy. If the frosting is too liquid, refrigerate it for a few hours until you can evenly spread it on the cake.
4. Carrot cake recipe for dogs (without peanut butter)

- 4 eggs
- 1 ¼ cups vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups grated carrots
- 2 ¼ cups flour
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tsp each baking soda and baking powder
- Pinch of ground cinnamon and nutmeg each
- ¼ cup honey
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Grease a baking pan 9x13x2 inches
- Beat eggs, vanilla, honey and oil together.
- Sift in baking soda, baking powder, flour, cinnamon and salt.
- Fold in the carrots.
- Bake for 50 minutes or until inserted knife comes out clean.
5. Peanut butter carrot cake for dog’s birthday

- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ cup peanut butter plus a bit more for frosting.
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/3 rd cup honey
- ¼ cup chopped carrots
- 1 egg
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- Prepare a Bundt pan by spraying it with non stick cooking spray
- Pour the sticky cake batter in.
- Sprinkle some more carrot bits on top.
- Frost with cream cheese or peanut butter.
